Negotiating My Cell Phone
When my phone was first purchased last year it took ages to understand how to work it. Several trips back to the store and a patient staff member helped me negotiate my way around its very complicated and extremely fast operation. It is a Galaxy Edge and while I love taking pictures with it they remain on the device because the won't download to my computer without help from the company.
As an older person delving into modern technology this type of problem should be better handled by the manufacturer. The other thing one can't do is take a selfie (photo of self) because the position of the camera button is too far out of position, at least for my degree of movement. To do it one requires both arms and that makes the photo look awful.
Another of the handicaps is that my home is located between 2 towers and the reception inside is bad. Inevitably the call drops off making its use restricted as the plan from the ISP has unlimited calls in it. Having to ring people back to their mobile numbers using my landline, where such calls are charged, is not an option.
Text messages are very handy and quick responses make conversations possible. Outside the phone works perfectly and is a great tool in an emergency. One day I accidentally locked my keys in the boot while shopping. Calling my son for help soon had the problem sorted. It happens that as the car was unlocked the boot latch within the vehicle opened the boot.
These are the kind of problems that trip me up. Sure, I love the new technology. I just wish I was better versed in using it. Now that it is a lot easier to negotiate my cell phone there is more pleasure to be had from its extensive technology.
