Why Are Asian Women So Thin?
The number one reason why Asian women are so thin is because of social demands placed on them by the media and the fashion industry. Youth and beauty is defined by having an underdeveloped body with seemingly childlike features. There are some genetics involved, too. Biology tells us that evidence of the earliest human-beings exhibited similar traits associated with neoteny. The word itself is seldom used to denote underdevelopment, or individuals who retain juvenile features clear into their adulthood. In modern vernacular we used derogatory expressions like pancake chest, flat bottom, flat as a board, skin and bones, and other more colorful and offensive expressions to denote a person who is underdeveloped and skinny.
Having no breast, no buttocks, and something not related called "Yaeba," a Japanese word that means snaggletooth in English, is utterly destroying the natural beauty of Japanese women. Being thin and underfed is self-depriving and therefore works against the natural development of the body. Eating three square meals a day and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Apparel shops market the idea of cute and 'forever 21' to appeal to young women in their teens and twenties. The idea that by dressing like you are 21 years old you can be 21 years old again has been a marketing strategy for decades. It's as if the media Barons of Tokyo and Shibuya are working right alongside the fashion industry to purposely promote young thin women as apposed to healthy young women. Having too much physical maturity is seen as un-Japanese. Their seems to be some sense of impurity associated with being and looking too mature.
Japanese women are inundated with images of thin women in fashion magazines, movies, and films. Often times these thin women are depicted as living the good life and appear to be happy and satisfied because of all the friends and lovers they appear to have. Young Japanese women set abnormally high expectations for themselves by experimenting with unhealthy diet fads that wind up doing more harm than good. When they go shopping they want to be able to fit into clothes that look cute, which are often times a 24-26 cm waist sizes. That is very small.
Manga is another reason why too. Often times caricatures are drawn with unnaturally small waste sizes. It doesn't end there, Japanese men prefer dating thinner women, often times with juvenile features. Larger women feel isolated and under appreciated for their own natural beauty. This rejection of what's natural has been eating away at society in Japan for decades, and has been one of the chief contributing factors in depression and suicide for many young women.
